The Original Wellness Infusion

Myers' Cocktail IV in Gainesville, FL

The original wellness IV — magnesium, B-complex, vitamin C, and more, delivered in our Vitamin Infusion Lounge.

What is a Myers Cocktail?

The Myers cocktail was developed in the 1970s by Dr. John Myers in Baltimore as an intravenous combination of B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium, and calcium. Decades later it remains the most-requested IV in functional medicine for general wellness, immune support, energy, and recovery.

The reason it works: many patients have suboptimal levels of these key micronutrients due to diet, stress, illness, or absorption issues. Oral supplementation is limited by gut absorption (typically 20–50%). IV bypasses the digestive tract entirely, delivering 100% absorption directly to cells.

What’s in a Bespoke Myers Cocktail

  • Vitamin B-complex: B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacinamide), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B12 (methylcobalamin) — energy metabolism, nerve function, neurotransmitter synthesis
  • Vitamin C: 500–1500 mg — antioxidant, immune support, collagen synthesis, iron absorption co-factor
  • Magnesium: 1–2 g — muscle relaxation, energy production (Krebs cycle), stress reduction, sleep quality, blood pressure regulation
  • Calcium: 1–2 g — bone health, muscle function, nerve transmission

Custom modifications: add high-dose vitamin C for immune-focused protocols, glutathione for antioxidant support, taurine for cardiovascular support, manganese for joint health.

When Patients Use Myers Cocktail

General wellness: baseline micronutrient repletion when diet, stress, or absorption is suboptimal.

Athletic recovery: magnesium accelerates muscle recovery, B vitamins support energy metabolism. Pre/post-event use is common.

Post-illness recovery: rebuild after cold, flu, COVID, GI illness. Nutrient stores are often depleted post-illness.

Chronic fatigue: patients with persistent fatigue, fibromyalgia, or chronic illness often respond to IV micronutrient repletion.

Stress and anxiety: magnesium has anxiolytic effects. B vitamins support neurotransmitter balance.

Migraine prevention: magnesium IV is well-supported for migraine prevention and acute treatment.

Pre/post-event support: wedding, athletic competition, public speaking, travel — many patients use Myers as a preparation/recovery tool.
