Your blood is drawn, processed in a sterile centrifuge to isolate platelets, then applied during and after microneedling so growth factors can reach the skin through the channels created by the device.

What Microneedling + PRP Treats
Acne scarring
This is where microneedling has its best evidence, particularly for rolling and boxcar scars. Published studies report improvement across multiple sessions, and Dr. Indianos photographs your baseline so you can see your own progress. Ice-pick scars can be tougher, and she will tell you up front whether this or a different approach fits, before you commit to a series.
Uneven pigment
Post-inflammatory pigmentation, the kind left behind after acne or irritation, often improves as the skin remodels. Melasma needs a more careful approach because heat and aggressive treatment can aggravate it, so if that is your main concern, Dr. Indianos will tell you at your visit whether this is the right tool for you.
Fine lines and crepey skin
Collagen induction is designed to firm the dermis and soften the look of fine lines, especially around the eyes, mouth, and neck.
Texture and pore size
Smoother-feeling texture and a refined look to pores.
Stretch marks
Patients choose it for stretch marks too. It tends to be most helpful on early ones (still red or purple), and mature ones may need multiple sessions.
Hair thinning
Scalp microneedling with PRP is used for early pattern hair thinning. The evidence base is developing and this is not FDA approved for hair, and it tends to do best when started early. If you are noticing thinning, the best time to ask is now: Dr. Indianos will tell you at your visit whether you are early enough for this to be a good fit.

PRP draw
A standard blood draw (1 to 2 vials) is processed in a sterile centrifuge to separate platelet-rich plasma from red and white blood cells.
Topical numbing
30 minutes of topical anesthetic for comfort.
Microneedling
Medical-grade device (not the “derma roller” sold at drugstores) creates precise, controlled micro-channels at depths matched to your skin and treatment goal (typically 0.5 to 2.5mm depending on area).
PRP application
Your processed PRP is applied during and after microneedling. The microchannels allow growth factors to penetrate where they would otherwise sit on the skin surface.
Recovery
Skin is pink to red for 24 to 48 hours, like a mild sunburn. Mild flaking days 3 to 5. Full recovery in 5 to 7 days.
How Many Sessions and How Often
Most indications require 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for optimal results. Acne scarring may need 6 to 8 sessions. Maintenance is typically 1 to 2 sessions per year after the initial series.
Some patients notice smoother texture early, and because the deeper collagen remodeling builds over months, we plan it as a series and photograph your baseline so you can see your own progress. That remodeling continues for up to a year after your last session.
