Bespoke Aesthetics

Set it and mostly forget it, for a few months at a time

Pellet therapy trades the weekly routine of injections for a single in-office procedure that keeps working for months. For patients who don’t want to think about dosing schedules, that’s the whole appeal.

What testosterone pellets are

Small, rice-grain-sized cylinders of crystallized testosterone, inserted just beneath the skin, usually in the hip. Once in place, they release testosterone steadily over the following months, without the peaks and troughs of less frequent injection schedules.

How insertion works

A brief in-office procedure, not surgery. The area is numbed with local anesthetic, a small incision is made, the pellets are inserted beneath the skin, and the site is closed with a single stitch or adhesive strip. Most patients are in and out in well under an hour and back to normal activity the same day, with some restriction on heavy exercise or swimming while the site heals.

How long pellets last

Most patients need reinsertion every three to six months, depending on your dose and metabolism. Dr. Indianos determines your reinsertion schedule based on your labs and how your levels trend between visits.

The convenience trade-off

Upside: no weekly needles, no at-home dosing, a procedure a few times a year. Trade-off: control. If your labs come back needing a mid-cycle adjustment, that’s harder with pellets already in place than with an injection you can modify at the next dose. Some patients value set-and-forget enough to accept that; others prefer the flexibility of injections. Dr. Indianos will walk through which fits.

Cost, upfront vs. ongoing

Pellets are billed as a procedure at insertion rather than a per-dose cost, so the upfront number can look larger even though you’re paying for months of coverage at once. Ask Dr. Indianos to walk through the math against your membership tier.

Common concerns

Insertion site issues. Mild bruising, soreness, or swelling for a few days, resolves on its own. Infection is rare with proper aftercare. Extrusion. Occasionally a pellet works toward the surface and needs removal or replacement. Uncommon, and one of the things Dr. Indianos checks at follow-up.

Pellets vs. injections

Want to fine-tune dose between visits by labs? Injections give more of that control. Rather handle testosterone a few times a year? Pellets are built for that. Full comparison: Testosterone Injections.
