Wegovy is a brand-name semaglutide medication made by Novo Nordisk. At Bespoke Aesthetics in Gainesville, FL, Dr. Carolyn Indianos, MD prescribes Wegovy for appropriate patients as part of a physician-supervised weight management program.
What Is Wegovy?
Wegovy is Novo Nordisk’s brand-name formulation of semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Wegovy is FDA-approved for chronic weight management in eligible adults and adolescents. It is given as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection.
How Wegovy Supports Weight Management
Semaglutide mimics natural gut hormones that regulate appetite and blood sugar, reducing hunger, slowing gastric emptying, and helping you feel full longer. Weight loss occurs gradually over several months; individual results vary by starting weight, dose, and adherence, and treatment is always paired with nutrition and lifestyle guidance.
Brand-Name Wegovy vs. Compounded semaglutide
Bespoke offers both FDA-approved brand-name Wegovy and, separately, compounded semaglutide prepared by state-licensed 503A pharmacies. These are not the same product: compounded semaglutide is not FDA-approved and is prepared only for an identified patient when a physician determines it is clinically appropriate. Your physician will help you decide which option best fits your needs and budget.
Physician-Supervised Care
Every Wegovy program at Bespoke begins with a consultation and baseline labs with Dr. Indianos, followed by personalized dose titration and ongoing monitoring. We screen for contraindications, including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or MEN 2.
